PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Floyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joakim Denetz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joakim Denetz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Floyd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joakim Denetz!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Floyd closes the distance and clinches.

Floyd jumps into guard, dragging Denetz to the mat.
Denetz trying to control the position from guard on top but Floyd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Floyd wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Floyd working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Denetz.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Floyd looking to hit a scissor sweep but Denetz is one step ahead there.
Floyd wants to control but Denetz passes easily into half guard.
Floyd tries to get to full guard but Denetz has control of the leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Floyd decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Floyd clinches up with Denetz and pushes him back against the cage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Floyd shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Denetz tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Floyd counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Floyd lands a nice short elbow.
Denetz wants to get back to his feet.
Floyd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Denetz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Floyd passes to side control.
Denetz manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Floyd tries to stand but can't do so whilst Denetz controls his leg.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Floyd wants to advance to full mount but Denetz doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Floyd working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Denetz's head.

Denetz is looking for a triangle but Floyd pushes his legs off easily.

Denetz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Floyd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Denetz throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Floyd working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Denetz looking for subs off his back but Floyd has passed one foot through into half guard.
Floyd wants to control but Denetz is keeping him busy.
Ground and pound from Floyd.

Floyd trying to control the pace.
Floyd blocks the strikes from Denetz.
Denetz trying to control here.
Floyd knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Denetz on the ground.
Floyd seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Denetz pushes Floyd off looking to stand but Floyd dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Denetz is looking to get back to full guard here but Floyd has managed to pass to side control instead.

Floyd stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Denetz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Floyd counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Floyd is really struggling to control Denetz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Denetz tries to lock up and control but Floyd gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Denetz regains half guard.
Denetz gets back to full guard.
Denetz trying to keep a closed guard but Floyd is proving a slippery customer.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Denetz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Denetz controls Floyd momentarily but Floyd frees himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Floyd tries to keep at a distance but Denetz has taken the fight into the clinch.

Denetz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Floyd is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Denetz to the mat. Denetz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Denetz has his foot on Floyd's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Floyd works his way back into a safe position though.

I would just about give that final round to Joakim Denetz.
Well Floyd has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
