PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richie Barlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bone Freis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freis is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: fck you. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barlow drives through and clinches with Freis against the cage.
Barlow wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Freis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Freis jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barlow is one step ahead there.

Barlow gets to his feet - Freis follows without any prompting.

Freis clinches.

Freis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Barlow can't fight it off and eventually Freis manages to take the fight to the floor. Barlow looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Barlow knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Freis on the ground.

Barlow is pulling down on Freis's head. It's preventing any offense from Freis, at least for the moment.

Freis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Barlow blocks a head kick by Freis.

Barlow tries to keep at a distance but Freis has taken the fight into the clinch.

and Barlow counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Freis drives through and clinches with Barlow against the cage.
Barlow is trying to break the clinch but Freis has him pressed against the cage.

Barlow is trying to push Freis away but Freis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Freis wants the takedown. Barlow is fighting it off but Freis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Barlow's guard against the cage.

Freis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Freis cracks Barlow with a solid left hand.

Freis gets off balance looking for a body kick

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Barlow counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Freis is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Freis gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Barlow regains guard.
Freis wanted to stand there but Barlow had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barlow is working an open guard so Freis takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Freis closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Freis keeps control of Barlow as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Barlow wants to break the clinch but can't.
Barlow really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Barlow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Freis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Freis pushes Barlow off and scrambles back to his feet.

Freis wants to pass the guard but Barlow is defending well.

Freis wants to stand but Barlow has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Barlow wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bone Freis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Barlow moves in looking to clinch but Freis pushes him off.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barlow gets tackled into the cage by Freis. Freis maintains the clinch.
