PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarred Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Walsh had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jarred Sullivan!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Sullivan misses

and Walsh holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Walsh prevents a takedown attempt there.

Sullivan is looking for a takedown.
Sullivan jumps guard but Walsh turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Frank Walsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarred Sullivan.

Walsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Walsh is on top in guard.

Sullivan wants to sweep here but Walsh controlling him for the moment.
Sullivan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Walsh stands and throws Sullivan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Sullivan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Walsh asserts his dominance and retains side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sullivan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sullivan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Walsh asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Sullivan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Walsh. That one must have hurt.

Sullivan throws a sloppy head kick and Walsh moves out of range easily.
Walsh is looking to counter the offense by Sullivan and move into the clinch.

Walsh fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sullivan, pushing him back against the cage.

Sullivan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Walsh just stands there and leans against the cage.

Walsh gets control of Sullivan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Walsh will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Walsh wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

and Sullivan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sullivan throws a right hand that Walsh ducks under and follows up with a left that Walsh also avoids with ease.
Walsh avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Walsh tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Sullivan manages to circle out of the way.

Jarred Sullivan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sullivan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Walsh manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Walsh seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Sullivan looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Sullivan tries to bum rush Walsh with a series of wild strikes but Walsh uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Walsh shoots for a double leg takedown but Sullivan sprawls well. He's pushed Walsh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Walsh won't allow Sullivan to pass to mount.
Sullivan is thwarting Walsh's attempts to control the position.
Walsh is pressing down on Sullivan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Sullivan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Walsh makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Walsh.
Sullivan postures up in Walsh's guard and throws a big left but Walsh blocks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walsh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jarred Sullivan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Sullivan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walsh's waist but Walsh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sullivan off to one side.

Walsh throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Sullivan is trying to control. Walsh wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

You can see the frustration on Walsh's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

I would just about give that final round to Jarred Sullivan.
I think Sullivan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
