Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, August Robles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Smith !
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Robles tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Smith manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Robles is one step ahead there.
Smith wants to stand but Robles is controlling the position.
Robles looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Robles postures up.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robles not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Robles gets to his feet - Smith follows without any prompting.

Smith drives through with a takedown into guard.

Robles wriggles free and stands up.

Smith takes the fight into the clinch.
Smith should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Robles has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Smith after a bit of a struggle.

Smith jumps guard.
Robles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith is trying to keep Robles in close.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Robles is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Robles has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Robles chips away with some ground and pound.

Smith is working an open guard so Robles takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Smith gets a clinch.
Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Robles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Smith pulls Robles into guard.
Robles's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Smith is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Robles defends well.
Smith looks winded!
Robles is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Robles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Robles stands up from Smith 's guard - Robles perhaps looking for a knockout.

Smith gets the takedown into side control.

Robles throws Smith to one side and escapes!

Smith gets a double leg takedown into Robles's guard.
Robles is pulling down on Smith 's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith , at least for the moment.

Robles looking for a sweep. Not yet Robles, not yet.
Robles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Smith looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Robles holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Smith is looking to advance position but Robles won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robles is refusing to be controlled, as Smith sits in half guard.

Robles desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Robles wants to get back to full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Robles is not content to let Smith control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.
Robles lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Robles connects with a nasty looking knee right to Smith 's face.

Robles breaks from the clinch.

Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Robles's guard.

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Robles haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Robles is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Robles is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around?

Robles tightens his grip and picks Smith up, before dumping him to the ground. Smith manages to land in guard.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Robles distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
August Robles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Robles gets to his feet. Smith looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Smith is breathing heavily.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Robles knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Robles wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that August Robles will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Robles fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith , pushing him back against the cage.
Smith has had enough of the clinch but Robles keeps him there for the moment.
Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Smith has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Robles clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Robles is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
August Robles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Robles moves into range and clinches up with Smith .
Smith is trying to maintain a safe position but Robles gets an underhook and turns Smith into the cage.
Robles misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smith .

Robles slowing the pace effectively.

Smith manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Robles slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Robles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Robles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Smith is working an open guard so Robles takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Robles moves into the clinch.
Robles lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Robles misses with a punch on the inside.
Robles misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smith .
Smith wants to break free but Robles has control.
Robles taking a breather.

Smith avoiding damage as Robles throws knees to the body.
Smith gets underhooks to prevent Robles's takedown attempt.
Robles can't find room to land a body shot as Smith controls the action.
Robles is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Smith can't break the clinch.

Smith is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Smith drags the fight down to the ground.

Robles decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith , up you get!
Smith lands a glancing blow to the side of Robles's head.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

August Robles showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
