Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaac Wankerl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savage comes to the cage accompanied by "Killing In The Name Of" by Rage Against the Machine. Wankerl has chosen Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Savage scores with a takedown into Wankerl's guard.

Wankerl escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Savage gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wankerl keeping moving, preventing Savage from controlling successfully.

Savage drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wankerl dives on top into guard.

Savage is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wankerl is looking to stand up but Savage won't let him.
Savage can't keep his opponent in guard - Wankerl advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Wankerl prevents Savage from standing back up.

Wankerl tries to pass the half guard into mount. Savage knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Wankerl is looking for a kimura here.
Savage is doing well to control the position and prevent Wankerl from advancing to side control.
Savage tries to roll over but Wankerl keeps him under control.

Savage actively working from the bottom here.
Savage makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Savage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Savage is looking for a triangle but Wankerl pushes his legs off easily.
Savage is breathing heavily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Savage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wankerl can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Savage keeping moving, preventing Wankerl from controlling successfully.
Savage trying to keep a closed guard but Wankerl is proving a slippery customer.
Wankerl works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Wankerl is working for a kimura but Savage is defending it quite comfortably.
Savage won't allow Wankerl to pass to mount.

Wankerl is working for a submission of some sort.
Savage moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Savage is on top in guard.

Wankerl looking for a guillotine here but Savage defends easily.
Savage working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Savage advances to half guard.

Wankerl actively working from the bottom here.
Savage missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Wankerl is looking for a sweep. Savage is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Savage wants to take a breather but Wankerl is having none of it.
Savage throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Savage trying to control the action but Wankerl is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wankerl fails with the takedown

and Savage counters with a shoot takedown. Wankerl fights it but they end up in guard.

Wankerl working for a triangle but Savage defends it easily.
Savage postures up in Wankerl's guard and throws a big left but Wankerl blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Savage dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Savage closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Savage lands in his opponent's guard.
Wankerl throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Wankerl utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Savage looking to sit in guard and control but Wankerl gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wankerl pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Savage is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Savage had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wankerl is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Savage Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wankerl's back instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wankerl tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Wankerl is desperately trying to improve his position but Savage has a good base and remains in mount.
Savage looking to control but Wankerl is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Savage takes Wankerl's back.

Wankerl is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Wankerl rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Savage wants to control but Wankerl is keeping him busy.
Savage thows a huge punch but Wankerl dodges it nicely.
The fighters are battling for position here. Wankerl manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Wankerl looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Wankerl has his foot on Savage's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Savage works his way back into a safe position though.
Savage is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Savage is sitting in close to Wankerl's body. Wankerl has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Savage is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Savage is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Wankerl.
