The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kharitonov on the side of the head.
Kharitonov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Powell lands with a thumping leg kick.
Powell lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Love-Hate Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Powell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kharitonov has time to react.

Kharitonov swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Powell lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
