Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Till I Collapse as his entrance music. Nathan Allen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Allen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jackson wants to get back to full guard.

Allen is looking for a kimura but Jackson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Allen to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson tries to get to full guard but Allen has control of the leg.
Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Allen wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Allen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackson's guard.

Jackson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Allen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Allen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Allen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jackson can't escape the position.

Allen prevents Jackson from getting the reversal.

Allen wants to finish this one by submission but Jackson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Allen.

Allen tries to control but Jackson wriggling away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jackson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Allen with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Jackson is looking to improve his position but Allen isn't that keen on the idea.

Allen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jackson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jackson throws a sloppy head kick

and Allen counters with a single leg into guard. Jackson didn't expect that.
Allen tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
Allen stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Allen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Allen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jackson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Allen's back instead.
Allen breaks Jackson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Allen could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Allen goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jackson is on top in guard.
