Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yogi Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryo Takajiri!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bear just misses with a punch to the body.
Takajiri displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bear throws out the jab.
A low kick from Takajiri misses
and Bear cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Takajiri scores with a spinning back kick!
Bear throws a big shot that misses.
Takajiri connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Takajiri chopping away at his opponent's legs.

and Bear cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Takajiri blocks a jab.
Bear tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Bear counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Bear is looking to counter the offense by Takajiri and move into the clinch.

and Bear counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Takajiri pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takajiri uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bear.
Takajiri was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Takajiri slips under a jab.
Bear misses with an uppercut.
Takajiri flicks out a counter leg kick but Bear steps away.
Nice defenses there by Takajiri.
A left lands for Bear.
Bear falls off balance throwing a combination
and Takajiri counters with a nice leg kick.

Takajiri throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've been told by Bear's head coaches at Hermanns Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bear moves forwards but Takajiri connects with a nice, crisp jab.

enabling Bear to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bear lands a nice looking body shot.
Takajiri throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A slow jab from Bear misses its intended target.
Takajiri throws a head kick that misses
and Bear counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bear cracks Takajiri with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Ryo Takajiri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takajiri misses with a head kick.
Takajiri throws a leg kick that is checked
and Bear counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bear swings for the body but Takajiri moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yogi Bear dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ryo Takajiri's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Bear counters with a nice body shot.
Bear connects with a combination that backs up Takajiri into the ropes. Bear lands a flurry of punches that gets past Takajiri's guard. Takajiri is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Bear bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yogi Bear!
