Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bryce Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dallas Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dallas Wells has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bryce Pate's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bryce Pate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dallas Wells!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pate slaps away a takedown attempt from Wells, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Wells misses with a takedown attempt - Pate sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pate misses with a wild body shot.

Wells shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Pate kicks off Wells and gets to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pate falls off balance throwing a combination

and Wells counters with a single leg into guard. Pate didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pate manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Wells drives through and clinches with Pate against the cage.
Wells goes for a takedown in the clinch but Pate prevents it.
Bryce Pate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dallas Wells.

Pate's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wells looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pate throws a head kick but Wells moves out of range.

Pate tries to keep at a distance but Wells has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pate successfully pulls guard.
Wells prevents Pate from getting back to his feet.

Wells got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pate has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wells has managed to get both his arms back between Pate's legs - danger averted.
Wells pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pate is keeping the position for now.
Pate wants to sweep but no luck.
Pate wants to stand and escape but Wells is having none of it.

Wells trying to control the position from guard on top but Pate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wells throws an elbow that misses. Pate uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wells's guard. Nice move by Pate!

Pate is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pate's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pate prevents Wells from getting back to his feet.
Pate scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Wells preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wells wants to control the position but Pate says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pate lands a nice short elbow.

Wells tries to roll over but Pate keeps him under control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pate is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wells has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wells is looking for a sweep. Pate is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wells looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wells really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pate. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wells tries to get to full guard but Pate has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryce Pate dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wells looks to score with a jab to the body but Pate is just out of range.

Wells gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wells is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wells with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Wells jumps guard but Pate stands there with Wells around his waist. Wells gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Pate.

Wells wants to control from the top but Pate keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pate manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Pate closes the distance and clinches.

Pate goes for a takedown attempt but Wells pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Wells shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pate as he avoids it easily.

Wells changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pate looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Pate throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Pate misses with a series of wild punches.
Wells wants to counter with a clinch but Pate pushes him away.
Wells fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bryce Pate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dallas Wells.
Wells shoots for a double leg takedown but Pate sprawls well. He's pushed Wells's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wells shoots for a takedown but Pate saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Pate seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Wells is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pate wants to work for an arm triangle but Wells is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pate seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Wells is looking to escape.

Wells wants to control but Pate is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Wells tries to get to full guard but Pate has control of the leg.

Pate is nestled in close to Wells, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pate thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pate is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wells can do to turn this around?

Wells is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pate has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Wells dives in and grabs Pate's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pate pushes down on Wells's head and hops out.
As Wells tries to get set, Pate tries to push him back and clinch up but Wells manages to avoid the attempt.

Pate tries to keep at a distance but Wells has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pate fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Pate effectively controlling the action here.

Pate jumps into guard, dragging Wells to the mat.
Wells trying to control the position from guard on top but Pate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wells throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pate works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Wells looking to sit in guard and control but Pate gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wells is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pate stands up over Wells, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pate has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pate is in close to Wells's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Wells avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wells looking for a sweep. Not yet Wells, not yet.

Pate lands a couple of elbows.
Wells wants to get back to his feet but Pate passes into half guard.

Pate slips a nice elbow through Wells's hands, connecting with Wells's forehead.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pate, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
