The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backlund displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Klincko throws out the jab.
Backlund is trying to counter with his kicks.
Klincko fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Backlund checks it well.
Backlund was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Klincko missing with a left hand there. Backlund was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Klincko swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Backlund.
Backlund moves out of range of the body kick from Klincko.

Klincko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Despite the aggression on Backlund's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Backlund misses with a takedown attempt - Klincko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Klincko feints a jab promting Backlund to slip. Klincko then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Backlund slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Klincko misses with an uppercut. Backlund saw that one coming.
Backlund takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Backlund enables Klincko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Backlund manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Backlund is rocked!

Klincko arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Backlund's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
