PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gill Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andres Vicson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gill Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andres Vicson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vicson pushes Carver up against the cage in a clinch.

Vicson drags the fight down to the ground.

Vicson looking for a guillotine here but Carver defends easily.
Carver trying to control the position from guard on top but Vicson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vicson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carver can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Carver controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carver wants to pass the guard but Vicson is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vicson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Vicson postures up.
Vicson trying to control but Carver is working from the bottom.
Carver controlling the position.
Vicson wants to control from the top but Carver keeps moving.
Vicson is looking to stand up but Carver won't let him.
Vicson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carver's guard.
Carver is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Vicson is going to stand back up.
Carver knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vicson on the ground.
Vicson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carver does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Vicson is looking for a kimura but Carver is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vicson to get the leverage.
Carver pushes Vicson off but Vicson dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Carver's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vicson tries for a kimura but Carver is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vicson working away.
Vicson controlling from side mount.
Carver is trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vicson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Vicson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carver keeps working.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Vicson fails with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carver throws a leg kick that misses.
Vicson wants to clinch up but Carver keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andres Vicson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carver throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Vicson dodges the punch combination from Carver.
Carver goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Vicson shoots for a double leg takedown but Carver sprawls well. He's pushed Vicson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Vicson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carver swivels and escapes.
Carver feinted with a counter takedown.
Vicson lands with a nice body punch.
Carver with a nice cross.
Carver lands with an uppercut that bounces Vicson off the cage and back into range.

Carver gets the takedown into side control.


Vicson is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carver looks up at the clock and then as Vicson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Carver smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Vicson is still in real trouble! Can Carver finish him?
Carver grinds an elbow into Vicson's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carver lands a strong strike to the head of Vicson. That's dazed him! Carver looking to finish here. Vicson is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Carver lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gill Carver!
