The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes The tries to clinch but Lowery is having none of it.

Lowery seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Barnes The is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Lowery ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lowery no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Lowery will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Barnes The stands and steps away. Lowery gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Barnes The throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lowery was covering up waiting for the punch and Barnes The finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lowery throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barnes The stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A lull in the action here.

Barnes The manages to stand up with Lowery still on his back. Eventually Lowery drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.

Barnes The shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lowery manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lowery is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lowery is trying to pull guard but Barnes The has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Lowery. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Barnes The escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lowery fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barnes The avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lowery has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Barnes The off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Barnes The slaps away a takedown attempt from Lowery, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lowery. Barnes The does a little dance to reset his feet.

Barnes The darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barnes The connects with a nice short shot to Lowery's temple.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Barnes The . He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
