PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Mayhew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Haynes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander Mayhew looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Mayhew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Haynes!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayhew circles away from the clinch attempt.

Haynes moves into range and clinches up with Mayhew.

Haynes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mayhew shoots for a double leg takedown but Haynes sprawls well. He's pushed Mayhew's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Despite the aggression on Haynes's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Mayhew tries to kick Haynes off in order to stand up. Haynes Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Mayhew definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Haynes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mayhew to his feet.
Haynes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Haynes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Haynes throws a right hand that Mayhew ducks under and follows up with a left that Mayhew also avoids with ease.
Mayhew steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Haynes. That one must have hurt.

Haynes has hold of Mayhew's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mayhew manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Haynes cracks Mayhew with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Mike Haynes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Mayhew swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Haynes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mayhew moves away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Haynes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mayhew's face.

Haynes is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Haynes thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mayhew if he has to take too many more of those.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mayhew enables Haynes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mayhew manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Alexander Mayhew showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Haynes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
