The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nelson finds it's way round the side to connect with Silva's head.
A jab lands there for Nelson.
Nelson moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.

Silva has his foot on Nelson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nelson works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nelson gets to his feet - Silva follows without any prompting.

Silva throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Nelson blocks it with crossed arms.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Nelson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Nelson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Nelson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Silva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A thudding body kick lands there by Silva!
Nelson has a takedown stuffed.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes.
Silva takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Nelson will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Silva clinches but Nelson breaks the clinch

and Nelson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
Silva wants to stand but Nelson is controlling the position.
Nelson tries to stand but Silva is controlling from the bottom.

Silva is looking to sinch up a triangle. Nelson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Silva's body to avoid the submission. Silva has instead reached around Nelson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Silva arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
