The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Ruiz.
Lafleur misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It looked like Ruiz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Lafleur closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ruiz quickly recovers to half guard.
Ruiz throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ruiz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lafleur is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Ruiz is hurt! He's hurt bad - Lafleur fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Ruiz from any more punishment! Congratulations to Lafleur! Great finish!
