The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trutch throws a left and a right that both miss

and Saint Claire counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Saint Claire.

Saint Claire has picked Trutch up - he's going for a ride! Saint Claire dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Trutch manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Saint Claire closes the distance and pushes Trutch back into the cage.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Saint Claire can do anything to dispel that myth.

Saint Claire is looking for a triangle here but Trutch uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Saint Claire holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Trutch throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saint Claire is looking to regain half guard here but Trutch keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Trutch seems a little lost for a moment, as Saint Claire dominates the positioning.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Trutch enables Saint Claire to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Trutch manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Trutch pushes Saint Claire off looking to stand but Saint Claire dives back in and keeps control.
