PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Myres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Myres!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Myres jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Myres swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Myres shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Silva eats them both and turns towards Myres to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like John Silva has been cut.
Silva takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Myres misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Silva shoots in but Myres avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Silva has Myres up against the cage in a clinch.
Silva has Myres pressed against the cage, preventing Myres from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Silva gets control of Myres's arms and successfully pulls guard. Silva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Silva looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Myres trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
Myres won't allow Silva to sweep him here.
Myres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Myres is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Myres avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Myres manages to get himself to full guard.

Silva passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Myres is pushing Silva's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Myres bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Myres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Myres fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some wild striking there from Myres.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.
Myres throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Silva walks into a straight right hand from Myres.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Myres swivels and escapes.
Rob Myres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Myres changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Myres manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As Myres looks to move away, Silva throws a big counter combo but Myres just gets out of the way.
Myres looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Myres will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Myres takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Silva fails in his attempt to clinch.
Some wild striking there from Myres.
Silva slips a jab and a cross from Myres.
Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Myres tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Myres to the ground. Myres escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Myres looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Silva takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


Silva is rocked!
Silva is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Myres moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rob Myres!
