PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave McIntosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave McIntosh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Todd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dave McIntosh!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Todd has McIntosh up against the cage in a clinch.
Todd gets underhooks to prevent McIntosh's takedown attempt.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Todd scores with a shoulder strike.
Todd is trying to pull guard but McIntosh has him pressed against the cage.
Todd controlling the action here for a moment.

McIntosh manages to break the clinch.
Todd fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McIntosh has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Todd darts in and clinches McIntosh up against the cage.
Todd prevents a takedown attempt there.
Todd fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Todd is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. McIntosh can't fight it off and eventually Todd manages to take the fight to the floor. McIntosh looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Todd passes McIntosh's left leg - he's now in half guard.
McIntosh missing with punches from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McIntosh blocking the ground and pound attempt from Todd.
McIntosh has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McIntosh tries to roll over but Todd keeps him under control.
Todd winds up and cracks McIntosh with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Todd missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Todd thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McIntosh's head.
Todd thows a huge punch but McIntosh dodges it nicely.

McIntosh has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Todd is working away from the top position though.
Todd takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Todd tries to stand but can't do so whilst McIntosh controls his leg.

McIntosh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
McIntosh won't allow Todd to pass to mount.
Todd lands strikes from half guard.

Todd is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McIntosh has managed to free his arm - good work.
Todd controlling the action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Todd seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Todd working the head and body with strikes.

Todd is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McIntosh has managed to free his arm - good work.
McIntosh trying to control here.
Todd seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McIntosh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Todd decides to stand and escape the position.
Todd lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Dave McIntosh has been cut.
Todd dives in for a single leg takedown but McIntosh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Todd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McIntosh closes the distance and clinches up with Todd, looking for a takedown. McIntosh pushes Todd against the cage but Todd circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Todd shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McIntosh's guard.
Todd is breathing heavily.

McIntosh pushes Todd off and gets back to his feet.

McIntosh closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McIntosh tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Todd just stands there and leans against the cage.
Todd wants to get back to striking at distance but McIntosh won't allow it.
Todd tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Todd lands on the inside with an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Todd dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dave McIntosh's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Todd throws a left and a right that both miss
and McIntosh counters with a two punch combo.

McIntosh drops Todd with a beautiful combination! Todd stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - McIntosh is looking for the KO!


Todd is rocked!


It looks like Mike Todd has been cut.
We've been told by Todd's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Todd swats away the attempt to clinch by McIntosh.
Oh Todd is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McIntosh closes this distance looking for a takedown but Todd circles away.
A counter left hand to the body from Todd misses its target.
Todd seems to have got his legs back now.
Todd tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McIntosh looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Todd is fending him off so far but McIntosh persists. Nope, Todd circles away and we're back to standing.
Todd wants to clinch up but McIntosh keeps it at a distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McIntosh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McIntosh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Todd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Todd controls McIntosh momentarily but McIntosh frees himself.
Todd keeping moving, preventing McIntosh from controlling successfully.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Todd holds on and takes a little breather.

McIntosh stands up over Todd, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Todd throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Todd striking off his back but it's not causing McIntosh any problems.
Todd is trying to keep McIntosh in close.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Todd is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and McIntosh dives into side control.
McIntosh lands a nice forearm strike.
Todd is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McIntosh is controlling him well.
Todd tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Todd is trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Todd can't do much from the bottom here.
McIntosh trying to control the action but Todd is working from the bottom.
Todd is looking for a sweep.
McIntosh just content to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Todd tries to score a power double leg takedown but McIntosh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Todd somewhat.

McIntosh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Todd is looking to get back to is feet but McIntosh passes into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McIntosh stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Todd tries to clinch up but McIntosh circles away and keeps his distance.
Dave McIntosh seems to be getting the better of the standup.

McIntosh bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Todd bucks up and tries to throw McIntosh off but instead McIntosh has got his back!
Todd trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
McIntosh is punishing Todd with some ground and pound.
McIntosh controls the position.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards McIntosh.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Todd wants to get back to his feet. He's half way up but McIntosh drags him back down with a jolt, managing to get his forearm deep under Todd 's chin! Todd is in real trouble! His face is turning bright red and he's forced to tap! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dave McIntosh!
