Hughes has chosen Pixies - Where is my mind? as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Joseph Hughes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Darnell Whitaker's chin.

The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker slips under a jab from Hughes.
A telegraphed right hand from Hughes misses the target.
Hughes throws a low kick but it's checked well by Whitaker.
Whitaker tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hughes manages to circle out of the way.
Hughes throws a series of punches but Whitaker avoids them all with ease.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Whitaker lands a nice shot to the body.
Hughes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Whitaker avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Our spies down at at Liverpools Red Tri-Angle MMA & Fitness inform us that Hughes has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Whitaker wants to pass the guard but Hughes is keeping the position.
Whitaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hughes on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whitaker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Whitaker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hughes wants to sweep here but Whitaker controlling him for the moment.
Hughes has his foot on Whitaker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Whitaker works his way back into a safe position though.
Hughes has his feet on Whitaker's thighs here. He's pushed Whitaker off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Whitaker screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
