PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jasper Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Striken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jasper Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joseph Striken!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Striken tries to clinch but Walsh is having none of it.

Striken drives through with a takedown into Walsh's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Striken trying to control but Walsh is working from the bottom.
Walsh wants to get back to his feet but Striken is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Striken throws a strike but Walsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Striken is striking but Walsh is not phased and passes to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walsh is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Striken wants to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walsh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Striken defends it well.
Striken is looking to escape.
Striken punching from the bottom.
Striken has a hand on Walsh's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Walsh takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Walsh controlling from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Striken is desperately trying to improve his position but Walsh has a good base and remains in mount.
Striken sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Walsh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Walsh is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Striken has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are battling for position here. Striken manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Walsh preventing the sweep.
Walsh lands a couple of elbows.

Striken looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Walsh working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Striken's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Striken looking to control but Walsh passes into half guard.
Striken is looking for a sweep. Walsh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Striken has a hand on Walsh's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Walsh takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Walsh has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Striken's face.

Walsh moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Striken has worked his arm free - good work by Striken!

Walsh decides to stand up, so the ref orders Striken to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Striken decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jasper Walsh dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Walsh has Striken up against the cage in a clinch.

Walsh drags the fight down to the ground.
Striken trying to control but Walsh is working from the bottom.

Walsh has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Striken should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Walsh has tightened it up now! Striken should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jasper Walsh!
