And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by santos or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad.
santos shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

santos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Johnson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Johnson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

santos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Johnson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Johnson has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johnson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Let's hope that Johnson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

santos tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.

Johnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Johnson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but santos keeps working.

Johnson wants to control but santos is keeping him busy.

Johnson has control of an arm but santos manages to advance to Johnson's back!
I really don't envy santos right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at santos. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
You can see the frustration on santos's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

santos trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
santos has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Johnson has passed into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, santos has escaped the position, nice work there.
santos is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Johnson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Max Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

santos misses with a takedown

and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but santos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnson has santos in his guard.

Johnson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for santos!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Johnson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as santos is looking to escape.

Johnson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now santos is on top in guard.
santos wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position.

Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.
Johnson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Johnson prevents santos from getting the reversal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
santos is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

santos wants to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.

Book santos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Max Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
