Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Skelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ogbebor Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lee Skelton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ogbebor Owen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skelton leaves Owen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Skelton half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Owen is working an open guard so Skelton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Owen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owen dives in for a single leg takedown but Skelton sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Owen closes the distance and clinches up with Skelton, looking for a takedown. Owen pushes Skelton against the cage but Skelton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lee Skelton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ogbebor Owen.

Skelton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Owen looking to sit in guard and control but Skelton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Skelton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Skelton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Owen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Skelton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Skelton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Skelton is standing up over Owen. Owen looks to escape but Skelton dives into side control.
Skelton takes a little break here. Owen wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Owen parries the strikes from Skelton easily there. Skelton is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Owen to escape.

Skelton decides to stand back up. Skelton steps back and let's Owen get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Owen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Skelton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Skelton is looking for a counter combo.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Skelton pushes Owen back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Skelton jumps guard and drags Owen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Skelton has Owen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Owen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Owen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Skelton has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Owen uses from the top position.
Owen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skelton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Skelton.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Still in the clinch, Skelton scores with a nice short uppercut.
Owen prevents a takedown attempt there.

Owen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Skelton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Owen has gone for a leg lock! Skelton slips out almost immediately though and dives into Owen's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skelton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Skelton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Owen has his hands clasped together around Skelton's back. He's all about the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skelton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Owen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Skelton.

Well Skelton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
