PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Heston Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Olof Orkidea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Got It. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Orkidea swivels and escapes.
As Gracie backs off Orkidea throws a huge counter combo but Gracie manages to avoid it all.
Orkidea throws a head kick that Gracie semi-blocks.

Gracie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Orkidea is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.
Gracie is trying to control. Orkidea wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Orkidea defends the submission attempt.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Orkidea is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Orkidea is trying to stand.

Gracie working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Orkidea's thigh. Orkidea counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Gracie trying to control but Orkidea is working from the bottom.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Orkidea is retaining full guard.
Orkidea wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position.
Gracie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Orkidea throws a predictable looking body shot
and Gracie counters with a stiff right hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie dives in and grabs Orkidea's left leg, looking for a takedown. Orkidea pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
Orkidea tries a quick counter leg kick but Gracie is wise to it.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Orkidea manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Heston Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt
and Orkidea counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gracie thinking.
Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Orkidea circles away.
Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Orkidea, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Orkidea against the cage but Orkidea circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Orkidea misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gracie changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Heston Gracie has been cut.
Orkidea lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Orkidea makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Orkidea scores with a spinning back kick!
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Orkidea. Gracie shrugs it off though.
Orkidea throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.
Orkidea tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Orkidea sprawls well.
Orkidea does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Gracie feinted with a counter takedown.
Orkidea lets loose with a powerful body kick. Gracie will feel that in the morning.
Nice body kick there by Orkidea.

Orkidea rushes Gracie and presses him up against the cage.
Orkidea lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Orkidea.
Orkidea throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A body shot lands from Orkidea.
Orkidea digs a right hand into Gracie's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Gracie's gas tank.
Orkidea lands a hook that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie takes an elbow to the temple.
Orkidea lands a nice shot to the body.
Orkidea lands a left hand.

Orkidea pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Orkidea circles away easily
and Orkidea counters with a nice uppercut.
Orkidea looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Gracie attempts a counter takedown but Orkidea avoids it well and moves away.
Gracie darts in looking for a takedown but Orkidea gets double underhooks and turns Gracie into the cage.
Orkidea turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracie is rocked!
Gracie drops his hands momentarily and Orkidea needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Gracie just on the top of the head. Gracie drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Gracie - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Olof Orkidea!
An out of breath and clearly excited Olof Orkidea thanked Pure Nutrition for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
Heston Gracie was interviewed post fight and said 'You lucky son of a bitch! I don't know how it is possible that I lost.. I got over confident'.
