Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roko Nigen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ohara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roko Nigen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Ohara !
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ohara closes the distance and clinches.

Ohara is trying to trip Nigen. He has hold of a leg but Nigen is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ohara persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Ohara trying to move into half guard but instead Nigen has managed to sweep!


Ohara is looking for a triangle but Nigen pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Nigen shoots in looking for a takedown. Ohara tries to sprawl out of it but Nigen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ohara manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ohara shoots in and bounces Nigen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Nigen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ohara gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ohara postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ohara content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ohara tries to free his leg and advance position but Nigen is retaining full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ohara 's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nigen tries for a takedown but Ohara sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ohara is wriggling around but Nigen manages to pass to half guard.
Nigen is trying to control the action in half guard but Ohara is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ohara has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ohara tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ohara is refusing to be controlled, as Nigen sits in half guard.
Nigen is really struggling to control Ohara but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Ohara is pressing down on Nigen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Nigen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ohara pulls Nigen in close to prevent any damage.
Nigen is pushing down on Ohara 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ohara is fighting to maintain full guard but Nigen has managed to sneak the leg through.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Nigen tries to break free but Ohara pushes him back against the cage.
Nigen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ohara smiles and moves away.
Nigen closes the distance and clinches up with Ohara , looking for a takedown. Nigen pushes Ohara against the cage but Ohara circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nigen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Ohara manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Nigen wants to break free but Ohara has control.
A bit of stalling here from Ohara .
Nigen tries to score a body lock takedown but Ohara shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roko Nigen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ohara pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Nigen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Ohara has one foot on Nigen's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ohara shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nigen is trying to defend but Ohara finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nigen wants to control but Ohara postures up.

Nigen tries to buck Ohara off but Ohara is having none of it.

Ohara lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Nigen down.
Nigen is looking to reverse the position.

Ohara stands up.

Ohara instigates a clinch.
Nigen stalling in the clinch but Ohara improves position.
Nigen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ohara gets control of Nigen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ohara will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Nigen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nigen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Nigen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ohara will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Nigen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ohara swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nigen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Ohara comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ohara has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
