Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Solis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Hay!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hay gets a double leg takedown into Solis's guard.

Solis has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hay off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Solis enables Hay to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Solis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hay won't allow Solis to get back to his feet.

Hay decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hay is pressing down on Solis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Solis is holding on for now.
Solis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Solis wants to control but Hay is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hay sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Solis defending well though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hay tries to control but Solis wriggling away.
Solis is in all sorts of trouble here.

Hay is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Solis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Solis!
Solis throws an elbow that misses. Hay uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Solis's guard. Nice move by Hay!

Hay wants to control from the top but Solis keeps moving.

Solis has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hay is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Solis.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hay tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Hay dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hay closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hay lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Solis pulls Hay in close to his closed guard and prevents Hay from doing any damage or advancing position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hay accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hay decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Solis has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hay is on him like a limpet, forcing Solis back against the cage.
Solis tries a knee to the head but Hay blocks it.
Hay creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Hay has Solis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hay pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Solis tumbling to the mat - Hay dives into Solis's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hay slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Solis has a closed guard, preventing Hay from standing up.
Hay trying to control the position from guard on top but Solis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Solis wants to stand but Hay is controlling the position.

Hay gets to his feet. Solis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hay has Solis up against the cage in a clinch.

Hay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Solis shoots in but Hay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Solis throws a head kick but Hay moves out of range.
Hay works over Solis's head and body with a nice combination.

Hay wants to control from the top but Solis keeps moving.

Hay trying to control the position from guard on top but Solis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hay postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Solis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

John Hay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Solis tries to close the distance and clinch but Hay swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hay is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
John Hay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Solis is trying to drag Hay to the mat but Hay just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hay has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Solis clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Solis rolls, trying to escape but Hay keeps control of the position.

Solis is trying to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hay avoiding Solis 's attempts to control his hands.
Solis tries to roll but Hay sticks to his back.
Hay wants to control but Solis is keeping busy.
Hay just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Solis is really stuck here.
Solis tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Hay is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Solis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Solis tries to hold on but Hay pushes him away.
Solis squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hay cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hay lands a couple of good shots and Solis has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Hay tries to keep control of the position but Solis is staying busy.

Hay really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Solis.

Hay is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Solis is defending well though. Hay let's go of the attempt for now.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Solis is covering up but some of the strikes from Hay are getting through and doing damage.
James Solis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Hay is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Hay seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Solis's chin but Solis turns very nicely into Hay's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Solis.

John Hay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hay has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
