Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shaw Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier has chosen Pharoahe Monch - Simon Says as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shaw Maxwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maxwell throws out a loose jab but Cormier uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cormier lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Cormier will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cormier steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maxwell.
Maxwell takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Cormier throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Maxwell stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Cormier follows into mount!
Maxwell is rocked!
It looks like Shaw Maxwell has been cut.
Maxwell is in all sorts of trouble here.
Oh Maxwell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maxwell slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Cormier thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Maxwell's head.
Maxwell is trying to stand back up but Cormier is controlling him
Maxwell looking for submissions off his back.
Maxwell seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maxwell looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Maxwell kicks Cormier off and gets back to his feet.

Maxwell lands a jab to the nose.
Maxwell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cormier.
Cormier avoids the head kick by Maxwell.
Maxwell swings for the body but Cormier moves out of range.
Maxwell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Cormier scores with a jab to the jaw.
Cormier ducks under a wild hook from Maxwell.
Maxwell moves out of range of the body kick.
Cormier cracks Maxwell with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Cormier fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Maxwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Maxwell cracks Cormier with a good jab.
Maxwell scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cormier doesn't seem bothered though.
Cormier moves away from the strike by Maxwell.
Cormier misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cormier pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cormier on the wrong end of a nice hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Maxwell moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cormier looks gassed!
Maxwell looks for the body kick but Cormier saw that one coming.
Cormier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maxwell circles away quickly and effectively.
Cormier steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Maxwell. That one must have hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maxwell throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Maxwell looks to throw the jab but Cormier is out of range.
Cormier with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Maxwell to score with a decent uppercut.
Maxwell connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Corey Cormier has been cut.
Maxwell connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cormier momentarily.
A telegraphed right hand from Maxwell misses the target.
Maxwell throws out a powerful jab.
Cormier takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Maxwell loads up on a big right hand but Cormier slips the punch.
Maxwell bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cormier's head.
Cormier is rocked!
A head kick by Maxwell misses
and Cormier counters with a three punch combo that has Maxwell backing up. Maxwell nods at Cormier to acknowledge the strikes.
Cormier is still on wobbly legs! Can Maxwell finish him?
Cormier slips a jab and a cross from Maxwell.
Cormier seems to have recovered his senses.
Cormier walks into a jab.
Maxwell lands the left hand.
Maxwell throws a sloppy head kick and Cormier moves out of range easily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Maxwell.
Maxwell avoids the body shot from Cormier.
Maxwell is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Maxwell sizes up Cormier with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Maxwell throws a monster overhand right that drops Cormier! Maxwell follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shaw Maxwell!
