Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Smithers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Rawls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Smithers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Metallica - No Leaf Clover. Jim Smithers could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Clay Rawls's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clay Rawls!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smithers clinches up against the cage.
Rawls takes an elbow to the temple.
Rawls tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Smithers breaks the clinch.
Rawls lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smithers circles away quickly and effectively.
Rawls waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Smithers.
Rawls thuds a left hand into Smithers's body.
A clash of legs there as Smithers blocks the low kick.
Rawls lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Smithers sprawling to the canvas. Rawls follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Smithers hang on?

Smithers is rocked!

It looks like Jim Smithers has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Still in half guard, Rawls seems content to control.
Oh Smithers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smithers is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rawls scores with a couple of nice shots.

Rawls is working for a kimura but Smithers is defending it quite comfortably.
Rawls is tying to control. Smithers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Smithers seems to have got his legs back now.
Rawls trying to mount his opponent but Smithers defends it.
Rawls looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rawls prevents Smithers from improving his position.
Rawls tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smithers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Smithers is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rawls keeps the fight on the outside.
Smithers wants to clinch up but Rawls keeps it at a distance.
Clay Rawls seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rawls moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Rawls swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Smithers.
Smithers takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rawls scores with a jab to the body.
Rawls lands a really nice looking cross but Smithers seems unphased.

Jim Smithers's cut is getting worse.
Rawls throws a leg kick that misses.
Smithers throws a hook to the side of Rawls's head but Rawls sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rawls looks to land a left hand but Smithers moved out of range nicely.
Rawls connects with a good right hand that stumbles Smithers. Smithers circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rawls lands with a right that hurts Smithers. Smithers looks to clinch but Rawls throws a short knee that drops Smithers. This one is all over!
