PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between One Up (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bluza Sportowa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bluza Sportowa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, One Up!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bluza Sportowa!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sportowa closes the distance and clinches.
Up throws an elbow but it misses.
Sportowa is stalling here.
Up lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Sportowa trying to control the position but instead, Up has worked for underhooks and has pushed Sportowa into the cage.
Up prevents a body shot from Sportowa.
Sportowa is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Sportowa tries to work over Up's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Up avoiding damage as Sportowa throws knees to the body.
Sportowa trying to stall but Up improves his position.
Up is pushing Sportowa up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Sportowa has Up pressed against the cage, preventing Up from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Up letting Sportowa take a breather here.
Sportowa utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Up ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Up no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Sportowa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Sportowa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Up is proving hard to escape from.

Up is working an open guard so Sportowa takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Up closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sportowa to the mat! Sportowa manages to get full guard.
Sportowa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Up. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Up trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Up is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sportowa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Up is aware though and is defending well.
Sportowa wants to hit a switch here but Up passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sportowa there!
Sportowa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Up is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Up throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Up avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bluza Sportowa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Up clinches.
Up tries to land a knee to the head but Sportowa blocks with his arms.
Sportowa has Up pressed against the cage.
Sportowa prevents Up from breaking the clinch.
Sportowa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Up up against the cage.

Up has Sportowa pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Up pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Sportowa tumbling to the mat - Up dives into Sportowa's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Up wants to control from the top but Sportowa keeps moving.
Up is really struggling to control Sportowa but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Up gets to his feet - Sportowa follows without any prompting.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Up shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sportowa as he jumps to the side.

Sportowa closes the distance and pushes Up back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

One Up dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Up has managed to clinch.
Sportowa with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Up jumps guard but Sportowa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Sportowa misses with a knee to the head.
Sportowa content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Sportowa tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Sportowa tries to land a knee to the head but Up blocks with his arms.
Sportowa lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Sportowa misses with the head strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Up blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Up pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sportowa stuffs the takedown attempt from Up. Up gets slowly back to his feet.

Up tries to keep at a distance but Sportowa has taken the fight into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sportowa is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Up is working for takedown but Sportowa is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for One Up. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sportowa can't find room to land a body shot as Up controls the action.

It looks like One Up has been cut.
Up content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Sportowa taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Sportowa is looking to control Up's arms but Up gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sportowa has his back to the cage.
Up changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sportowa fights it off and pushes away nicely.
One Up is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sportowa clinches up against the cage.
Up blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Up successfully pulls guard.
Up working a defensive guard here.
Up trying to control the position here.
Up can't keep his opponent in guard - Sportowa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Sportowa is trying to control. Up wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Up might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sportowa is thwarting Up's attempts to control the position.
Sportowa missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Up gets full guard.
Sportowa trying to control the position from guard on top but Up is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
One Up overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Up is trying to keep Sportowa in close.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Up shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sportowa is trying to defend but Up finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Sportowa pushes Up off looking to stand but Up dives back in and keeps control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Up moves nicely into side control.
Sportowa is looking to regain half guard here but Up keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bluza Sportowa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on One Up's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Sportowa drives through and clinches with Up against the cage.
Come on Sportowa - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Up pulls guard effortlessly.

Sportowa decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Up, up you get!
Up fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sportowa pushes Up up against the cage in a clinch.
Sportowa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Up up against the cage.

Up is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sportowa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Sportowa unloads a knee to the mid-section. Up lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sportowa just leaning against Up, taking a breather.

Up is looking to control Sportowa's arms but Sportowa gets an underhook and turns him. Now Up has his back to the cage.
Up avoids the elbow strike from Sportowa, against the cage.

Up breaks the clinch.

Sportowa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Up, pushing him back against the cage.
Up tries to pull guard but Sportowa forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Sportowa struggles to land a body shot inside as Up controls his hands.
Sportowa lands a nice knee to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sportowa lands a left hand that snaps the head of Up backwards.
Sportowa's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Up being controlled against the cage.

Sportowa tries to throw a body punch but Up avoids it by throwing Sportowa back against the cage.
Up tries to pull guard but Sportowa forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Up's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sportowa tries to clinch up.

Sportowa clinches up against the cage.
Sportowa content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Sportowa lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Bluza Sportowa seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Sportowa is pushing Up up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Bluza Sportowa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sportowa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
