PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ura Nage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Blood of Cuchulainn. Nage has chosen Who Wants To Live Forever as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pete Quinn!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ura Nage!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn blocks a head kick by Nage.
Quinn swings for the body but Nage moves out of range.
Nage pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No joy there for Quinn, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Quinn throws a jab but it's blocked by Nage.
Nage takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Ura Nage has been cut.
Quinn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nage cracks the inside of Quinn's front leg.
Quinn looks to throw the jab but Nage is out of range.
Nage lands a nice leg kick that just misses Quinn's sensitive parts.
Quinn scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nage doesn't seem bothered though.
Good leg kick by Nage there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Nage drives through and clinches with Quinn against the cage.

Nage manages to break the clinch.
Quinn misses with a looping left.
Quinn misses with a wild body shot.
Nage tries to clinch up.
Nage throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Quinn swinging wilding here.
Quinn clobbers Nage with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nage misses with a head kick.
Nage is looking to slow Quinn down with leg kicks.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nage closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Nage prevents Quinn from breaking the clinch.
Quinn managing to block the knees to the body from Nage.

Nage breaks the clinch.
Nage takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Quinn misses with a few strikes there.
Quinn lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nage tries to clinch up but Quinn circles away and keeps his distance.
Nage scores with a head kick.
A head kick from Nage lands but Quinn takes it in his stride.
Quinn dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nage throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nage swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Quinn counter with a right hand.
Nage throws a sloppy head kick and Quinn moves out of range easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nage looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Quinn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Quinn throws a series of strikes that have Nage backpedaling.
Nage is looking to slow Quinn down with leg kicks.
Quinn connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Nage's hands.
Quinn missing with a left hand there. Nage was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quinn lands an overhand right.


That has opened up Ura Nage's cut even more.
Quinn misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pete Quinn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Quinn tries to avoid it but Nage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Quinn to the ground. Quinn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nage looks gassed!
Quinn lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nage backs up against the cage.
Quinn loads up on a big right hand but Nage slips the punch.
Quinn cracks Nage with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Quinn tries to bum rush Nage with a series of wild strikes but Nage uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Quinn looks to land a left hand but Nage moved out of range nicely.
Quinn jabs Nage right on the nose. Nage blinks but takes it well.
Nage keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Quinn.
Quinn stalks Nage and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nage's face. Nage staggers backwards, shaken.


The cut above Ura Nage's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Nage is looking to clinch.
Quinn throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Nage colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Quinn as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Nage is left battered and dazed whilst Quinn and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pete Quinn!
Pete Quinn is the new light heavyweight champion!
