The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xu tries to bum rush Thomas with a series of wild strikes but Thomas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Thomas avoids the body shot from Xu.

Thomas clinches up with Xu and pushes him back against the cage.
Thomas tries for a takedown but Xu manages to get underhooks.
Xu tries to circle away but Thomas has him pinned against the cage.
Thomas lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Xu backwards.
Xu is looking to break free of the clinch but Thomas has double underhooks.
Xu is trying to force a seperation but Thomas has the dominant position.
Thomas wants a takedown.
Thomas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Thomas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Xu's efforts to push away.

Thomas pushes Xu off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Thomas moves forwards but Xu connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Thomas misses with a head kick.

Xu looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range.
Thomas drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Xu defends it well.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but Xu shows good takedown defense.

Xu darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Xu shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Thomas eats them both and turns towards Xu to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Xu is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Thomas throws a big counter head kick but Xu avoids it with no problem.
Xu lands a nice hook to Thomas's body. Thomas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Thomas takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Zhuzhu Xu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Xu is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Thomas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Xu tries to bum rush Thomas with a series of wild strikes but Thomas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Xu comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Xu misses with a few strikes there.
Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown but Xu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thomas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Xu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thomas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Xu connects with a single shot there.
Xu dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Thomas showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Xu.
Thomas is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Thomas fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown. Xu tries to sprawl out of it but Thomas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Xu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Xu lands a big right hand that sends Thomas crashing to the mat! Xu stays standing though and waves Thomas back to his feet!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thomas is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Xu doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Thomas crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Thomas's bad books for that mishap!
