PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malik Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DropKick Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy has chosen Warrior's Code as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, DropKick Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner throws a jab when Murphy was well out of range.

A quick step to the side and Turner tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Murphy counters with a stiff right hand.

and Murphy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Murphy scores with a jab to the jaw.
Murphy has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Turner ducks right into an uppercut from Murphy.

DropKick Murphy seems to be getting the better of the standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Murphy, as that shot connected.

Turner has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Murphy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

DropKick Murphy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Murphy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
