PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hardcastle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hamish Peter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardcastle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A swing and a miss from Peter.
Hardcastle throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hardcastle defending well as Peter loads up on a big left hand.

Hardcastle forces Peter back against the cage and clinches.
Peter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hardcastle breaks from the clinch.
Hardcastle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hardcastle shoots in for a takedown but Peter shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Hardcastle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hardcastle rushes Peter and presses him up against the cage.
Peter is trying to break the clinch but Hardcastle has him pressed against the cage.
Hardcastle prevents Peter from breaking the clinch.

Hardcastle gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Peter regains guard.
Hardcastle throwing strikes from guard but Peter blocks nicely.
Peter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hardcastle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hardcastle trying to control but Peter is working from the bottom.

Hardcastle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hardcastle is looking to advance position but Peter has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Peter trying to control but Hardcastle is having none of it.
Hardcastle prevents any damage by holding on tight.
Peter prevents Hardcastle from getting the reversal.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Peter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hardcastle is looking to escape.
Peter looking to control and managing it successfully.
Hardcastle on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hardcastle tries to get out of the position.
Hardcastle is looking to improve his position but Peter isn't that keen on the idea.

Hardcastle tries to lock up and control but Peter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hardcastle can't escape the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hardcastle is breathing heavily.
Hardcastle tries to hold on but Peter pushes him away.
Hardcastle keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hardcastle trying desperately to get to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Hardcastle dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Peter connects with the punch.

It looks like Mike Hardcastle has been cut.
Peter scores with a decent looking hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A combination from Peter does no damage.
Hardcastle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hardcastle ducks right into an uppercut from Peter.

Mike Hardcastle's cut is getting worse.
Hardcastle shoots in for a takedown but Peter shows good takedown defense.
Peter moves out of range of the body kick from Hardcastle.
Hardcastle doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Peter drops his shoulder and cracks Hardcastle with a huge uppercut! Hardcastle goes down! Can Peter finish him?
Peter tries to stand but Hardcastle is controlling from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hardcastle is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hardcastle is looking for a triangle but Peter pushes his legs off easily.

Hardcastle has his foot on Peter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peter works his way back into a safe position though.
Hardcastle is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Peter won't allow Hardcastle to sweep him here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Peter is looking to stand up but Hardcastle won't let him.
Hardcastle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peter is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Peter throws a series of strikes that have Hardcastle backpedaling.

Mike Hardcastle's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Hardcastle closes this distance looking for a takedown but Peter circles away.
Hardcastle takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Jeez, Mike Hardcastle's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mike Hardcastle's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
