Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Willis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Doe!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Doe has hold of one of Willis's legs. Willis is fighting the takedown attempt but Doe gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Willis has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Doe has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Willis wants to get back to striking at distance but Doe won't allow it.
Willis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Doe effectively controlling the action here.
Doe has Willis pressed against the cage, preventing Willis from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Willis is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Doe turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Doe manages to end up in side control.
Doe lands some shots froms side control.
Willis regains half guard there - taking advantage of Doe's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Doe is taking a breather. Willis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Willis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Doe prevents Willis from standing back up.

Willis tries to get to full guard but Doe has control of the leg.
Doe tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Willis.
Willis controlling the position well.
Willis wants to get back to his feet.

Doe seems to be looking for submissions.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Doe prevents Willis from improving his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Doe closes the distance and clinches.
Willis jumps guard but Doe turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Doe goes for a takedown attempt but Willis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

You can see the frustration on Willis's face as Doe controls the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Doe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Willis is looking to escape.
Willis manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Doe closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Willis is looking to break free of the clinch but Doe has double underhooks.
Doe has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Willis after a bit of a struggle.
Willis tries to circle away but Doe has him pinned against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Willis prevents it.
Doe tries for a takedown but Willis manages to get underhooks.
Miguel Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Doe.

Willis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Willis tries to pull guard but Doe holds him up against the cage and eventually Willis drops back down to his feet.
Willis has had enough of the clinch but Doe keeps him there for the moment.
Doe is looking to take this one to the mat.
Willis gets underhooks to prevent Doe's takedown attempt.
Doe prevents Willis from breaking the clinch.

Doe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Willis wants to control from the top but Doe keeps moving.
Willis postures up in Doe's guard and throws a big left but Doe blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Willis wants to stand but Doe is controlling his posture from full guard.
Doe wants to sweep here but Willis controlling him for the moment.
Willis trying to control but Doe is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

John Doe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Doe tries to clinch there but Willis circles away.

Doe is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Willis pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Doe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Willis smiles and moves away.

Willis is looking to stand up but Doe isn't so interested in that idea.
Willis wants to sweep here but Doe controlling him for the moment.
Doe won't allow Willis to get back to his feet.
Doe trying to control the position from guard on top but Willis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Willis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Doe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Doe tries a head kick but it misses.
Doe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Willis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Doe.
Willis wants to get back to striking at distance but Doe won't allow it.
John Doe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
