Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Patrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyrenne James!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James dives in for a single leg takedown but Patrick sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Patrick attempts a counter takedown but James avoids it well and moves away.
James misses with a takedown
and Patrick counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Patrick sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Patrick appears to be looking for a big counter.
Stan Patrick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrenne James.
James throws a body shot but no joy.
Patrick tries to counter with a takedown but James is quick to defend against it.
James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Patrick manages to avoid it.
James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James wants to clinch up but Patrick keeps it at a distance.

James moves into the clinch.

Patrick jumps guard and drags James to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Patrick has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. James is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Patrick.
James tries to score with some ground and pound. Patrick controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
James wants to stand but Patrick has his arm trapped.

Patrick is pushing James's head away, looking to escape. James manages to hold on to the position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
James tries to stand but Patrick is controlling his head.
Patrick is being controlled here.
Patrick tries to escape but James is in control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
James tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Patrick tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Patrick to the ground. Patrick escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
James throws an elbow but Patrick slips to the side and avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

James stands up and we're back to a striking position.
James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Patrick clinches up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James is trying to pull guard but Patrick turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Patrick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as James walks away with a smile on his face. Patrick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James looks winded!
Patrick postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Patrick slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Patrick trying to stand up but can't free himself from James's guard.
Patrick wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Patrick would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!



James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Patrick is staying active underneath James, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Patrick tries to kick James off in order to stand up. James Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

James has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Patrick!

The referee warns Patrick that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Patrick is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

James goes for an armbar but Patrick turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Patrick.

Patrick has gone for a leg lock! James slips out almost immediately though and dives into Patrick's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Patrick has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. James has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Patrick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as James walks away with a smile on his face. Patrick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
James wants to slow Patrick down by chopping away at his legs.
As James looks to move away, Patrick throws a big counter combo but James just gets out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrenne James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Patrick gets caught flat footed, as James shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Patrick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.

James wants to control but Patrick is keeping him busy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

James swings around for an armbar but Patrick sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into James's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

James wants to pass the guard but Patrick is keeping the position.
James engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Patrick is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Patrick has escaped and now he's on top!

James wants to sweep but no luck.
Tyrenne James has got the better of the ground game so far.
Patrick postures up.

James is working an open guard so Patrick takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
James closes the distance and clinches up with Patrick, looking for a takedown. James pushes Patrick against the cage but Patrick circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
James fails with the takedown

and Patrick counters with a single leg into guard. James didn't expect that.

Patrick stands up and waves to James to follow him.
James tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Patrick counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Patrick has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Patrick drives through and clinches with James against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Patrick turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
James manages to get back to half guard.
Patrick seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
James is pressing down on Patrick's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Patrick wants to stand but James has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

James is working an open guard so Patrick takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Patrick forces James back against the cage and clinches.

Patrick jumps guard and drags James to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Stan Patrick showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Patrick has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
