PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buster Da Bomber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Da Bomber kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is eye of the tiger. Buster Da Bomber has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Buster Da Bomber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Noah Diaz!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Bomber misses with a wild combination.
Diaz feints the counter takedown.
Da Bomber shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Diaz eats them both and turns towards Da Bomber to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Left hook, right uppercut from Da Bomber.

Da Bomber gets caught flat footed, as Diaz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Diaz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Da Bomber will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Da Bomber is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Diaz passes Da Bomber's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Diaz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
It looks like Diaz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Diaz stops Da Bomber from getting back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Da Bomber has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.

Diaz is trying to trip Da Bomber. He has hold of a leg but Da Bomber is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Diaz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Da Bomber is wriggling around but Diaz manages to pass to half guard.
Diaz content to control rather than advance.
Da Bomber is trying to stand.

Diaz scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Diaz is controlling the pace.
Diaz prevents Da Bomber from standing back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Diaz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Diaz is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Noah Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Da Bomber tries to sprawl but Diaz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Diaz slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Da Bomber wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Buster Da Bomber will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Da Bomber's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Da Bomber duly obliges.
Da Bomber displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Jab, jab by Da Bomber - just one landing.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Da Bomber is looking to escape.

Diaz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Da Bomber sees it coming and defends easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Da Bomber is trying to stand back up but Diaz is controlling him
Diaz is taking a breather. Da Bomber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Diaz is continuing to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Diaz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Da Bomber to the ground. Diaz is now in Da Bomber's guard.
Diaz stops Da Bomber from standing up.
Diaz stays in close to Da Bomber's body and controls the position.
Diaz has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA London. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diaz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Diaz drops back looking for a leg! Da Bomber is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Da Bomber manages to kick Diaz off! Diaz jumps back into Da Bomber's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Diaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Diaz lands in his opponent's guard.
Da Bomber wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Diaz manages to pass to side control.
Noah Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Da Bomber could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Diaz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Noah Diaz will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Diaz.
Diaz is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Da Bomber.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Da Bomber is looking to escape.
Diaz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Diaz moves into full mount! Da Bomber won't be happy about that!
Diaz looking to control and managing it successfully.

Let's hope that Diaz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
More stalling from Diaz.
Da Bomber is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Diaz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Diaz in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Diaz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Diaz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Diaz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Da Bomber's face.

And that's the end of the fight!
Noah Diaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Diaz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
