Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Lowery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Lowery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Davies!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies misses with a takedown attempt
and Lowery counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Davies drives through with a takedown into guard.
Davies trying to control the position from guard on top but Lowery is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lowery wants to sweep here but Davies controlling him for the moment.
Lowery pulls Davies in to control the position.
Davies works over Lowery with some ground and pound from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lowery is controlling Davies's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lowery had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davies defends it easily.
Davies tries to free his leg and advance position but Lowery is retaining full guard.

Lowery wants to control but Davies passes easily into half guard.
Davies trying to control from half guard but Lowery is working away.
Lowery slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Davies's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Davies pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lowery is keeping the position for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Davies keeps trying to improve his position.
Lowery throws a nice elbow from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lowery blocks a head kick by Davies.

Lowery drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Davies tries to improve position but can't.
Davies struggling a bit here.

Lowery is trying to get an arm triangle but Davies is defending well.

Lowery thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Davies can't do much from the bottom here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lowery is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Davies will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Davies is trying to control Lowery's posture but Lowery avoids it.
Lowery will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lowery is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Davies has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lowery looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Davies will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lowery's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lowery fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Davies throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lowery was covering up waiting for the punch and Davies finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lowery kicks Davies off and gets to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davies throws a head kick but Lowery moves out of range.
Davies misses with the body kick
and Lowery counters with an outside leg kick.

Davies drives through with a takedown into Lowery's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Lowery wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Davies manages to pass to side control.

Lowery wants to improve his position but Davies is controlling well.
Lowery trying to hold on to Davies's head to control him but Davies postures up.

Lowery is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Davies pulls his head out easily.
Lowery is pressing down on Davies's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Davies lands a couple of elbows.

Lowery tries to strike from the bottom.
Davies trying to control but Lowery is working from the bottom.
Lowery is trying to control the position but Davies postures up.

Lowery looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Davies passes into half guard.

Davies stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lowery tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Davies defends well and Lowery ends up having to push Davies into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Davies shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lowery is trying to defend but Davies finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Lowery pushes Davies off and gets back to his feet.
Davies throws a head kick but Lowery moves out of range.
Lowery looks for a takedown but Davies sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Lowery. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davies instigates a clinch.
Lowery misses with a hook from the clinch.

Davies breaks from the clinch.
Lowery ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Davies moves away.
As Lowery backs off Davies throws a huge counter combo but Lowery manages to avoid it all.
Lowery chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lowery changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davies tries to avoid it but Lowery manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davies to the ground. Davies escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lowery is defended easily by Davies.

Davies has closed the distance and engaged Lowery in a clinch.
Lowery trying to stall but Davies improves his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jake Davies will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Davies is trying to stall.

Davies breaks from the clinch.
Lowery shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davies as he jumps to the side.
Davies jabs at Lowery's body.
Davies tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lowery was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davies tries to clinch up.
No luck for Davies with that takedown attempt.

Lowery circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jake Davies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davies tries to sprawl but Lowery drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Lowery is working for a kimura but Davies is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Davies is pressing down on Lowery's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Davies manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lowery manages to get himself to full guard.

Davies looking to sit in guard and control but Lowery gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lowery gets to his feet. Davies looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Davies tries for a takedown but Lowery circles away easily
enabling Lowery to counter with a crisp jab.

Davies closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lowery to the mat! Lowery manages to get full guard.
Lowery is wriggling around but Davies manages to pass to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Davies is taking a breather. Lowery says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lowery is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davies is thwarting Lowery's attempts to control the position.
Davies missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Lowery is trying to maintain the position but Davies is very close to passing his half guard.
Davies stalling.
Lowery is looking for a sweep. Davies is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lowery trying to control but Davies postures up.
Still in half guard, Davies seems content to control.
Lowery is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lowery or perhaps it was just good defense by Davies, which made it look bad.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jake Davies.
I've got Davies winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
