The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cirfych darts in looking for a takedown but Carey gets double underhooks and turns Cirfych into the cage.

Carey has closed the distance and engaged Cirfych in a clinch.

Carey gets control of Cirfych's arms and successfully pulls guard. Carey will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Carey working for a triangle but Cirfych defends it easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carey is on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carey stands up over Cirfych, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Carey decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cirfych, up you get!
Carey shoots in for a takedown but Cirfych shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Carey throws a low kick but Cirfych moves out of range easily.

Carey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
