Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sam Anderson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Martin!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Anderson defends well and Martin ends up having to push Anderson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Anderson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Martin.
Martin tries to counter with a clinch but Anderson shakes him off and moves away.
Martin drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Martin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Anderson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Martin sprawling to the canvas! Martin rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Anderson finish him?!


Martin is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Anderson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Martin counters with a shoot takedown. Anderson fights it but they end up in guard.
Martin is still in real trouble! Can Anderson finish him?
Anderson keeping moving, preventing Martin from controlling successfully.
Martin seems to have recovered his senses.
Martin won't allow Anderson to get back to his feet.
Anderson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Martin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin throws a big elbow that misses.

Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Martin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Anderson wants to stand but Martin is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Anderson swinging wildly here.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Martin! But no joy.
Anderson misses with a combination

and Martin counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Anderson!

Martin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Anderson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Anderson looks to land a combination but Martin avoids it well.
Anderson misses with an uppercut.
Martin changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Anderson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Martin has time to react.

Martin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Anderson on his heels. He'll look to pass Anderson's guard now, I'm sure.
Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Martin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Anderson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Anderson digs a good body shot into Martin's ribs.
Sam Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin shoots for a takedown but Anderson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

As Anderson backs off Martin throws a huge counter combo but Anderson manages to avoid it all.

Martin is pushing down on Anderson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Anderson is fighting to maintain full guard but Martin has managed to sneak the leg through.

You get the feeling that Anderson really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Martin has control of Anderson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Anderson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Anderson.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
