The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson doesn't manage to clinch there - Cifer Jr circles away.
Cifer Jr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stevenson was well out of range. Poor timing from Cifer Jr.
Stevenson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Stevenson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cifer Jr is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Cifer Jr closes the distance and clinches up with Stevenson, looking for a takedown. Cifer Jr pushes Stevenson against the ropes but Stevenson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cifer Jr lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Stevenson at a distance.

Cifer Jr tries to bum rush Stevenson with a series of wild strikes but Stevenson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Cifer Jr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stevenson sprawls well initially but Cifer Jr persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
