Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frito Lei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Sann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frito Lei has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 119 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frito Lei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Sann!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sann swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Lei clinches with his opponent.
Lei prevents the takedown attempt.
Sann is trying to push Lei away but Lei has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Sann's coach down at Cozad MMA Los Angeles was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sann's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Sann tries to pull guard but Lei won't allow it.
Sann is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lei is defending well for now.

Lei manages to break the clinch.
Lei throws a head kick that misses
and Sann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A head kick misses from Lei.

Lei has Sann up against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Lei.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sann tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Frito Lei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Sann.
Sann has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lei avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Lei breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lei tries to clinch but Sann moves away
and Sann counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Lei moves into the clinch.
Sann misses with a hook from the clinch.
Lei throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sann blocks it with crossed arms.

Lei breaks the clinch.
Lei takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Frito Lei is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lei moves into the clinch.

Sann manages to break the clinch.
Lei is looking to clinch.
Lei wants to clinch
and Sann counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Lei tries to clinch but Sann is having none of it.
Sann swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Lei tries to clinch
and Sann counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lei ducks right into an uppercut from Sann.
Lei tries to clinch up.
A countering left hand to the body from Sann misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lei's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lei has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Open Mat's in the buildup to the fight.
Lei tries to clinch but Sann is having none of it.
Lei will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lei throws a leg kick
and Sann counters with a stiff right hand.
Sann cracks Lei with a right hand to the side of the head.
Sann tests Lei's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Good shot there by Sann.
Lei fails to land with a series of punches.
Sann looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Lei lands a body shot.
Lei tries to clinch but Sann is having none of it.
A jab from Sann finds it's way through Lei's defenses.
Sann has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Good shot there by Sann.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sann looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lei wants to clinch up but Sann keeps it at a distance.
Sann throws a body punch but Lei moves out of range.
Sann swats away the attempt to clinch by Lei.
A nice side step and Sann releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Lei looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Lei throws a head kick that misses.

Sann forces Lei back against the cage and clinches.
Sann swings wildly with an uppercut but Lei uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lei manages to break the clinch.
Sann displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Lei fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sann cracks Lei with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Lei is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lei.
Despite the aggression on Sann's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Lei falls off balance throwing a combination
and Sann counters with a series of strikes. Lei will be more careful next time no doubt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sann scores with a push kick.
Sann looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Lei throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sann sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sann doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Lei wants to clinch.
Lei darts in trying to clinch
and Sann counters with a one-two to the body.

Sann gets tackled into the cage by Lei. Lei maintains the clinch.
Lei on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sann goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Sann dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lei tries to clinch but Sann moves away
and Sann counters with a left and a right that stings Lei.
Sann is looking to slow Lei down with leg kicks.
Lei lands a jab-cross combination.
Lei throws a combination. Sann tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Sann throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lei on the side of the head.


Lei is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lei misses with a double jab

and Sann counters with a head kick that drops Lei to the mat! Lei scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Oh Lei is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nice body punch from Sann.
Look low, kick high! Sann uses the oldest trick in the book to send Lei tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Sann is absolutely delighted - when Lei wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Daniel Sann!
