Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Tamayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pari Jakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Tamayo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pari Jakh!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tamayo clinches.
Jakh fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jakh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tamayo smiles and moves away.

Tamayo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jakh sprawls well initially but Tamayo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jakh is defending against the submission attempts here by Tamayo.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tamayo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tamayo trying to mount his opponent but Jakh defends it.

Jakh is not content to let Tamayo control the position.

Jakh makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jakh.
Tamayo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jakh is trying to escape the position but Tamayo is controlling the position.

Tamayo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Tamayo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jakh fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Jakh counters with a nice body shot.

Sloppy strikes from Tamayo. Those never looked like landing.
Jakh lands a nice looking body kick.
Jakh shoots in for a takedown but Tamayo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jakh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Tamayo kicks Jakh off and gets back to his feet.
Tamayo throws a sloppy head kick and Jakh moves out of range easily.
No joy there for Tamayo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jakh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tamayo but Tamayo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tamayo seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Tamayo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jakh is fending him off so far but Tamayo persists. Nope, Jakh circles away and we're back to standing.

Tamayo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tamayo takes a swing at Jakh's ribcage but misses.
Tamayo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jakh tries to clinch there but Tamayo circles away.
A counter left hand to the body from Tamayo misses its target.
Jakh throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Tamayo.
Jakh shoots for a takedown but Tamayo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jakh wants to clinch up but Tamayo keeps it at a distance.
Jakh is looking to clinch.
As Jakh tries to get set, Tamayo tries to push him back and clinch up but Jakh manages to avoid the attempt.

enabling Tamayo to counter with a crisp jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Tamayo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Tamayo pulls guard.
Tamayo controlling the position.
Jakh wants to control from the top but Tamayo keeps moving.
Tamayo is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Matt Tamayo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jakh postures up.
Tamayo wants to sweep but no luck.

Jakh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tamayo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jakh has managed to get both his arms back between Tamayo's legs - danger averted.

Jakh gets to his feet. Tamayo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Tamayo pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Tamayo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jakh throws Tamayo to one side and escapes!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jakh looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tamayo is fending him off so far but Jakh persists. Nope, Tamayo circles away and we're back to standing.

Jakh moves out of range of the body kick from Tamayo.
Jakh circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jakh throws out a counter right but Tamayo avoids it with no problem.
Jakh shoots for a double leg takedown but Tamayo sprawls well. He's pushed Jakh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jakh shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tamayo is trying to defend but Jakh finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Tamayo has one foot on Jakh's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Jakh tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tamayo just stands there and leans against the cage.

Tamayo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jakh was well out of range. Poor timing from Tamayo.

A head kick from Tamayo lands but Jakh takes it in his stride.

Jakh is looking to regain half guard here but Tamayo keeps moving and retains side control.
Tamayo is staying tight to Jakh's torso, preventing him from escaping.

That's time! Tamayo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Tamayo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jakh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tamayo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jakh somewhat.
A head kick by Tamayo misses
and Jakh counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jakh is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tamayo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Tamayo lands a hook that snaps the head of Jakh backwards.

Tamayo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jakh can do to turn this around?
Tamayo avoids a wild elbow strike from Jakh.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Tamayo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Jakh has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tamayo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Jakh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jakh jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tamayo walks away with a smile on his face. Jakh gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Tamayo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tamayo lands in his opponent's guard.
Tamayo is standing up over Jakh. Jakh looks to escape but Tamayo dives into side control.

Jakh is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tamayo connects with a decent elbow.

Tamayo swings around for an armbar but Jakh sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tamayo's guard.
Tamayo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tamayo pulls Jakh in to control the position.
Tamayo keeping moving, preventing Jakh from controlling successfully.
Tamayo has control of Jakh's left arm, preventing Jakh from doing any damage.

Tamayo continues to stall.
Tamayo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Tamayo decides to stand and escape the position.

Tamayo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Tamayo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
