Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orlin Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Orlin Jr!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Bravo as Jr tries to tie him up.
Bravo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Jr avoids it.
Bravo unloads a knee to the mid-section. Jr lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Bravo working Jr over with knees to the body.
Bravo using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jr has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Bravo scores a nice knee to the body.

Bravo misses with a knee strike.
Jr wants to break the clinch but can't.

Bravo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bravo has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jr after a bit of a struggle.

Jr is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jr jumps into guard, dragging Bravo to the mat.
Bravo wants to pass the guard but Jr is keeping the position.

Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bravo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bravo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bravo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bravo postures up.
Bravo is looking to advance position but Jr has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bravo squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Bravo is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jr looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bravo wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Bravo tries to lock up and control but Jr gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bravo's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jr controlling the pace for now.

Jr is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bravo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Jr wants to control the pace but Bravo is squirming around nicely.
Jr might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bravo haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bravo throws a sloppy head kick and Jr moves out of range easily.
Jr tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bravo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jr somewhat.
Bravo tries to clinch but Jr is having none of it.
Bravo wants to clinch up but Jr keeps it at a distance.
Jr shoots for a takedown but Bravo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bravo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bravo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jr can do to turn this around?

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jr's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Jr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bravo's guard.

Bravo wants to get back to his feet but Jr is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jr is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jr postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Bravo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bravo can't keep his opponent in guard - Jr advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bravo wants to get back to his feet.
Jr not doing much here.
Bravo tries to get to full guard but Jr has control of the leg.
Bravo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jr on the ground.

Bravo pushes Jr off and gets back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jr moves into the clinch successfully.
Bravo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jr smiles and moves away.

Bravo closes the distance and clinches.
Chris Bravo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jr is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Bravo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jr ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jr no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Jr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bravo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jr jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bravo walks away with a smile on his face. Jr gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bravo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jr drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bravo defends it well.
Orlin Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bravo rushes Jr and presses him up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bravo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
