The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex shoots in looking for a takedown. Lawler tries to sprawl out of it but Rex keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lawler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lawler pushes Rex up against the cage in a clinch.
Rex swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Lawler is leaning against Rex and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Lawler lands a left hand that snaps the head of Rex backwards.
Lawler effectively controlling the action here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawler's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Lawler lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Lawler stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Lawler lands a left hand that snaps the head of Rex backwards.

Lawler breaks from the clinch.
Lawler is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Lawler connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rex. Rex circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Lawler moves in close and cracks Rex with a massive right hand! Rex, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Lawler!
