Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Verra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Alvario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Verra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Alvario!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvario shoots for a takedown but Verra saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Verra throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alvario.
Some wild striking there from Verra.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Alvario! But no joy.
Verra's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Verra duly obliges.
Eric Verra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Verra misses with a two punch combination.
Sloppy strikes from Verra. Those never looked like landing.
Verra scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It seemed like Alvario was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Verra bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Alvario's head backwards.
Verra fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Alvario appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Alvario tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Verra swivels and escapes.
Eric Verra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Alvario.

Alvario changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Verra looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Verra is working to avoid the ground and pound but Alvario connects with a decent elbow.

Alvario fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Verra sprawls well initially but Alvario persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Verra knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvario on the ground.
Alvario lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvario winds up and cracks Verra with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alvario looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Verra with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Alvario is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Let's hope that Alvario has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Alvario is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Verra to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Verra shrugs it off.

Alvario has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Verra's face.

Alvario loads up with a big shot that hurts Verra! He's pulled Alvario in close but Alvario has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Verra survive? More strikes from Alvario and Verra is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
