PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nucky DIaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nate Diaz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nucky DIaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DIaz fails with the takedown
and Diaz counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Diaz shoots for a double leg takedown but DIaz sprawls well. He's pushed Diaz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Diaz clinches.
Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as DIaz walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Diaz shoots in for a double leg but DIaz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nucky DIaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Diaz.

DIaz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and DIaz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Diaz is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and DIaz dives into side control.
Diaz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, DIaz asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
DIaz won't let Diaz get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

You get the feeling that Diaz really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
DIaz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diaz for as long as he can get away with.
Diaz tries to hold on but DIaz pushes him away.

DIaz is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Diaz has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Diaz is trying to control but can't.

Horrible takedown attempt by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by DIaz, which made it look bad.

DIaz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Diaz explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

DIaz has taken the fight to the clinch.
Diaz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. DIaz just stands there and leans against the cage.

DIaz has Diaz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. DIaz pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Diaz tumbling to the mat - DIaz dives into Diaz's guard.
DIaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Diaz wants to get back to his feet but DIaz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
DIaz throws a big elbow that misses.
DIaz is pushing down on Diaz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diaz is fighting to maintain full guard but DIaz has managed to sneak the leg through.

Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

DIaz is trying to work for a kimura but Diaz is defending well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
DIaz is controlling the pace.
Diaz scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but DIaz manages to mount him!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
DIaz drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

DIaz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Diaz to the ground. DIaz is now in Diaz's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for DIaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
