PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Jameson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jameson has chosen Requiem for a dream as his entrance music. Billy Jameson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster moves out of range of the strikes.
Jameson misses with a looping right.

Foster fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jameson sprawls well initially but Foster persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jameson is concentrating on defense, preventing Foster from advancing position.
Foster passes the guard and advances to mount!
Foster thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Foster goes for an armbar but Jameson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jameson.
Jameson stays in close to Foster's body and controls the position.
Foster looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Foster had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jameson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Foster Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jameson's back instead.

Foster seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Jameson's chin but Jameson turns very nicely into Foster's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Jameson.

Jameson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Foster, up you get!

Foster tries for a takedown but Jameson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Foster dodges the punch combination from Jameson.
Jameson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Foster manages to avoid it.
Jameson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jameson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Jameson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Jameson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jameson throws out a loose jab but Foster uses good head movement to avoid it.
No joy there for Jameson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Foster shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Foster has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Foster there as he acknowledges the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Foster shoots in but Jameson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerard Foster. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jameson pushes Foster off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Foster bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jameson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Jameson duly obliges.

Foster misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Jameson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Foster.
Jameson throws a nice looking combination but Foster bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Foster fails to land the takedown.
Foster lands the left hand.
A punch combination from Jameson misses.
Billy Jameson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jameson looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Foster shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jameson's guard.

Foster is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jameson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jameson has escaped and now he's on top!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Foster is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jameson gets to his feet. Foster looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jameson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Foster looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Foster tries to get to full guard but Jameson has control of the leg.

Foster is not content to let Jameson control the position.
Foster tries to roll over but Jameson keeps him under control.
Jameson is controlling the pace.

Jameson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Foster to stand up.
Jameson is breathing heavily.

and Jameson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Foster won't be happy with that.
Foster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Foster wants to get back to full guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jameson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Jameson decides to return to a standing position.

Foster throws a big right hand that misses.

Foster drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Foster seems to have locked his on tight now - Jameson screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Foster, as he picks up the win!
