PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Del Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ortais Gatavs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Del Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ortais Gatavs!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatavs moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Del Kent has been cut.
Gatavs swinging wildly here.

Kent throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gatavs was covering up waiting for the punch and Kent finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kent is fighting to break Gatavs's control of his arms but Gatavs is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Gatavs has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gatavs wants to stand and escape but Kent is having none of it.
Gatavs wants to sweep but no luck.
Kent controlling from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gatavs is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kent is controlling him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gatavs connects with a single shot there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gatavs scores with a decent looking hook.

Kent is rocked!
Kent tries to clinch there but Gatavs circles away.
Oh Kent is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gatavs misses with a series of wild punches.
Kent tries to counter with a takedown but Gatavs is quick to defend against it.
Kent really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kent tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gatavs manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kent takes the fight into the clinch.
Kent seems to have got his legs back now.
Kent fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kent tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gatavs just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kent jumps guard but Gatavs stands there with Kent around his waist. Kent gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Del Kent. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kent has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gatavs is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Still in the clinch, Gatavs scores with a nice short uppercut.
Gatavs blocking some punches.
Kent tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gatavs smiles and moves away.
Gatavs drops Kent with a big left hand! Kent is injured, injured bad! Gatavs jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
