PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Heinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suikka Salama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heinski comes into the arena with Rare Ol' Times blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Heinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Suikka Salama!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heinski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heinski won't allow Salama to sweep him here.
Heinski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Heinski pushing down on Salama's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Heinski takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Salama slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Salama wants to sweep here but Heinski controlling him for the moment.

Salama had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Heinski is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Salama Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Heinski's back instead.
Heinski has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Salama.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heinski manages to reverse the position and now he's in Salama's guard. Nice work there by Heinski.
Salama is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Heinski dives into side control.
Salama is not content to let Heinski control the position.
Salama regains half guard.
Salama works his way to full guard. Good work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heinski seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Salama keeping busy on the bottom but Heinski has passed one foot through into half guard.
Salama looks gassed!
Heinski perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Heinski prevents Salama from improving his position.
Heinski wants to get back to his feet.

Salama is trying to get back to full guard.
Heinski keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Salama manages to get to full guard.
Heinski trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Salama is trying to keep Heinski in close.
Heinski wants to control from the top but Salama keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Salama utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Salama is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Heinski dives into side control.
Heinski wants to control but Salama is keeping him busy.

Heinski stands up.
Salama takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Heinski looks for a takedown but Salama sprawls well.
Salama misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Heinski dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Heinski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salama circles away.

Heinski has closed the distance and engaged Salama in a clinch.

Heinski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Heinski dances in with a quick combination. Salama is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Heinski snaps Salama's head back. Salama stumbles backwards against the cage. Heinski steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Salama's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Salama just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Dave Heinski!
