The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anderson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Simpson is trying to defend but Anderson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Simpson has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Anderson is on him like a limpet, forcing Simpson back against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Simpson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Anderson tries to clinch up but Simpson circles away and keeps his distance.

and Simpson counters with a single leg into guard. Anderson didn't expect that.
Anderson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Simpson dives into side control.

Anderson is desperately trying to improve his position but Simpson has a good base and remains in mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Anderson is looking for a sweep. Simpson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

As Anderson looks to move away, Simpson throws a big counter combo but Anderson just gets out of the way.
Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown. Simpson tries to sprawl out of it but Anderson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Simpson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Simpson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Simpson lands an elbow just above Anderson 's eye.

Carlos Anderson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Anderson throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Simpson blocks it with crossed arms.

Simpson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
