PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Taheil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taheil's choice of entrance music: Bustin Loose. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julian Taheil!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taheil has his takedown stuffed
and Rodrigo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Taheil fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rodrigo lands a right hook to the body.
Taheil shoots in looking for a takedown. Rodrigo tries to sprawl out of it but Taheil keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rodrigo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rodrigo swings for the body but Taheil moves out of range.
Rodrigo lands with a kick to the temple. Taheil shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Julian Taheil has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodrigo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Taheil is rocked!
Taheil takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Taheil is still on wobbly legs! Can Rodrigo finish him?
Taheil shoots in and drives through. Rodrigo sprawls well.
Taheil seems to have recovered his senses.
Pablo Rodrigo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Taheil.
Taheil will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rodrigo throws a body shot but no joy.

enabling Taheil to counter with a crisp jab.
Taheil takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Rodrigo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Taheil.
Taheil steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rodrigo.
Taheil with the counter takedown but Rodrigo avoids it easily.
Rodrigo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Taheil tries for a takedown but Rodrigo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Rodrigo lands a big right hand that sends Taheil crashing to the mat! Rodrigo stays standing though and waves Taheil back to his feet!

Taheil walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Taheil limp body while Rodrigo jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

A relieved looking Pablo Rodrigo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
